Tech for Vets Program – Details
Our Tech for Vets Program is an effort and opportunity for Indy’s I.T. Department to ‘give back’ to our military.
Qualifications as a Candidate –
1. U.S. Military Veteran – DD-214 scanned copy with all information redacted but for name, dates of service, branch, rank, and discharge type. If you have a ‘bad discharge’ do not worry. It will not be held against you. We just use that to help us determine needs and ability to succeed.
2. Legitimate business less than 6 months old, to be confirmed by your state’s EIN/TIN number (or equivalent).
3. Participation in the Facebook Group Vetpreneur Tribe. This is a free group of like minded veterans growing and building relationships and businesses.
4. Demonstrate your need of a machine (just a brief message about what your use for the computer will be so we can do our best to get you one that meets those needs. Please include a description of your business and what you do for whom.
5. If selected, we will need a mailing address.
6. We will also need a waiver form signed allowing us to share your story and about why you were chosen to receive one of our Tech for Vets systems.
Contributors –
We thank you, upfront for considering to donate to this effort.
We are accepting systems (if portables, please include the power supply) that ran Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, or Vista. Even non-functioning systems are accepted as their parts may be used to repair or upgrade another. If you send systems that have hard drives in them, you have our assurance that data will NOT be used by us. We use a variety of Linux tools to intentionally erase, overwrite, erase, and overwrite, again any disks in the systems. This helps protect your data. It also helps us test the machine to determine any weaknesses before we gift it to a veteran starting a new mission as an entrepreneur.
Fiscal donations are also accepted to help cover the costs of parts, software licensing, and shipping.
