Indy’s I.T. Department was founded by Daniel Curry.  Daniel is a U.S. Army Veteran and has been working on and with computers since he was in high school.

Professionaly, Daniel has worked for companies such as QualityPC, Dollar Thrifty Rent-a-Car and Dell.   He also spent several years in Silicon Valley, during the collapse of the ‘dot-com’ rush, working for a variety of different start-ups, each with their own unique needs and opportunities to grow.

After leaving Silicon Valley, Daniel worked for Dell as a charter member of the Server Support team in the brand new (at the time) OKC facility.  Soon his skills for software support were recognized and he again, was a charter team member for the new 3rd shift support staff on the new OKC facility.  His exposure to large organizations, start-ups, and very small micro businesses gave him a following of businesses that would only call Dan for help with their systems while he worked as the 3rd Shift NOS analyst at Dell.

Today, he has returned to his roots in central Indiana where he started Indy’s I.T. Department and recently celebrated his 11th anniversary of being in business.

Recently, when asked what gave him the most satisfaction in being a business builder, Dan shared:

“To be able to see a need and then fix it.  It’s what I do, if I can.  I fix what is broken or hurt.”

Dan also maintains an active presence in the online Military Veteran Business Owner Community.

Tech for Vets Program

Our Tech for Vets Program is an effort and opportunity for Indy’s I.T. Department to ‘give back’ to our military.   As founder of Indy’s I.T. Department, Daniel Curry has been givving recycled laptops to our wounded Veterans as they recovered from military service related injuries.

As Indy’s I.T. Department has grown, we have been able to assist many of our finest with laptop computers to keep.  These laptops became vital to the recipients as it allowed them communications with the world outside their hospital, gove them access to entertainment options and also let them start or continue with their education.

With the reduction of our deployed military and the conflicts our nation has been participating in, Daniel has started to redesign this program.   He wants to continue helping our active duty troops do more, after the military.  His target has settled on continuing with gifting systems to our veterans who are in need and decided to start a business.  With the recent Covid-19 pandemic, import restrictions from China and other concerns, getting a decent laptop to start a business has gotten even more difficult.

This is the space Indy’s I.T. Department will focus on.  Veterans with a solid business idea, meeting a need of their community and advancing the hardworking image of the military veteran continuing to be leaders in their communities.
